Default Will you have a drink of alcohol?

According to a 2008 Journal of the American Dietetic Association article. Experts believe alcohol improves heart health by making blood less sticky so it's less likely to clot by increasing levels of "good" HDL cholesterol while lowering unhealthy LDL cholesterol. Whether you prefer wine, beer or liquor, people who drink one to two alcoholic drinks of any kind are less likely to suffer from heart disease.

    What do you think?

I'd say it's some excellent ex post facto justification for my lifestyle habits.

I'm not at all a fan of how alcohol makes me feel, and the extra calories are something I am unwilling to tolerate. If your post implies one to two drinks per day, those calories are going to add up rapidly.

Alcohol drink can't be good for the heart health. Alcohol drinks always affect the health very badly.
All alcohol drinks, beers, and wine destroys the heart, liver, and lung and cause various serious diseases.
We should try our best to avoid all these alcohol drinks to maintain our health and fitness.

Alcohol is def bad for gains and fitness and you should stay away from it. but i always say a little drink like a beer at night or some wine with food isnt going to hurt you. i just train a little harder to make up for it!!

I agree with you.Alcohol is not good for heart or any other part of body.Rather it may cause of failure of kidneys. It has less benefits but its bad effects are too much.

who has just "A" drink anyway ?

I'm thinking that experts on heart health do not use the term "sticky" blood, that's a good one.

The data would be skewed anyways because after years of tracking people who drink to evaluate their heart health would statistically have too many other lifestyle contributing influences from chemicals to diet.

Yeah I definitely don't think drinking can be beneficial for your health. Every now and then I suppose but to say that alcohol can help your health is a little far fetched.
Plus the consumption of alcohol is addictive and can slowly destroy your liver.

Alcohol has health benefits if taken in moderation. However, if you are not a drinker, don't start drinking because you want the health benefits alcohol can give. This is because moderate drinking is difficult to define. It varies greatly with individuals. For me, I love wine.

It always cracks me up when there are reports claiming the benefits of my biggest vices (Chocolate, Coffee and Wine). At this point, I really believe that old adage which claims that "All bad things are good in moderation." Yeah, I'm going to go with that. Deprivation isn't good for you anyway.

I rarely drink but I have read some interesting studies on the health benefits of alcohol. There was an excellent article on Mark's Daily Apple on this subject. My alcoholic beverage of choice is cider from Normandy. It is so refreshing, it is like drinking apple juice. Infinitely better than commercial cider.

Maybe drinking wine has benefits but all alcohol in general? Not so much.
