Anyone have any thoughts on the benefit of adding some apple cider vinegar to my PWO regimen?

I'm low carb during the week - would it be pointless to add it unless I'm consuming more carbs PWO? I could take it daily or just on Saturday with my higher carb PWO meal.

What about buffering it? Is that recommended?

Also, what dose would people suggest?

Finally, would it interfere with absorption of other supps?

Any thoughts are appreciated....

I don't think it's really necessary unless you're taking in carbs. If someone has some reasoning as to why it would be beneficial, though, I'm all ears.

Vinegar actually doesn't lower blood pH, so no need to worry about that. If you're worried about it irritating your esophagus just chase it with something.

If someone says something about you, and it really bothers you, it's probably because it's true.

only other concern i would have with any regular usage of vinegar with carbs (which I use alot) is the effects of it on teeth. Similar with powder CEE. After the combo of the two, Ive twice now gone to the dentist who was fairly concerned about the beating the two have on my pearly whites. either that, or im somehow bulemic in my sleep.

Maybe I'll try it before my Saturday PWO meal (which is high carb). How much would you recommend?

I think most people here are using around 2tbsp per 50g of CHO. I just pour it into a shot glass.

Thanks guys!

But just once a week would probably be okay don't ya think?

Also, you could try washing your mouth with a baking soda/water solution after it to neutralize the acid.

what tabs? u mean tums?

now why whould you guys munch on tums to neutralize the acidity? isn't lowering the ph the purpose here for vinegar to slow down digestion?

or u guys only interested in the acetate ion?

pls elaborate, tks

Only interested in the acetate. And I think he's talking about apple cider vinegar tabs.

lso, you could try washing your mouth with a baking soda/water solution after it to neutralize the acid.

Or use a straw.

i think it's great for PWO glycogen replinishment, high carb meals, or carb ups. i'd suggest buying sodium acetate from BN and cap it (one 00 cap will be enough for each serving). i also take calcium citrate with it to buffer it's acidity

Apple Cider Vinegar is a Base, with a PRAL score of (-2.3)

I have used half a shot glass before my PWO shake for the last couple of years, the vinegar tastes much better out of the fridge.

Just give it a little more time in your tummy to dissolve before eating...
