    Default Barbell Curls/shoulderpain/ultimate mass

Hello, I am having right shoulder pain when doing standing barbell curls, but no problems with other ones like preachers and various other curls including seated barbell. Would a person still be able to build the same mass if using proper progression without the standing barbell? Thanks, Bassman

You could probably make some tweaks to your form and stop impacting your shoulder. Look at the position of your shoulders when you are curling. Are you letting your shoulders roll forward? Be sure to keep your upper back tight, with your shoulders pulled back.

Real men do deadlifts and squats for biceps.
I'm so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.
The purpose of argument, should not be victory, but progress.

Because when you are doing preacher curl, you shoulder would not support any weight, but not in standing curl when all the weight of barbell are supported by your shoulder. that means your shoulder hurt. it may be Frozen shoulder,no big problem. just take a rest to let it refresh itself. And reduce some workout like press, raise which would need shoulder to extend.

You may have the frozen shoulder, when you are doing preacher curl, you just place you arm on the bench, your shoulder would not support most weight, but when you are standing, all the weight of the barbell are pulling your shoulder. The pain means your shoulder hurt. You should reduce some exercise like press or pullover which need shoulder to rotate or extend. Here are some articles about muscle strain, may help you refresh

You shouldn't do any exercise if it causes pain. I don't think you need to do loads of bicep exercises to build your biceps. If you want big biceps, squat! I know it sounds strange but your smaller muscles will respond to the hormonal stimulus from doing heavy squats and deadlifts.

just work around it! so long as your biceps are being worked ! just don't aggravate shoulder.

Stop doing the exercise altogether. I agree with the guy above try switching it up and doing squats. Let yourself recover first.
